Awards Ceremony

We had a nice turnout for the award ceremony last Thursday. The red carpet was filled with prominent students and the biggest star professors. There were flashes left and right to launch the 2006 reception. If you weren’t there, you missed out in the biggest night for Anthropologists at UCI.

It was a fun and lovely afternoon, and just to rub it in your face even more, the food was amazing… really amazing.

I’ll soon post a link to the winner papers from the Honor’s program. I don’t think they are up yet.

To everyone that came by, professors, students and family, thank you very much. Very special thanks to Norma Miranda and Diana Thomas for putting it all together.

On to the next event now:

This Thursday, May 25, 2006, the Anthropology Club will have a meet and greet reception to welcome new members and get to know the current ones. There will be free food and small research chats by faculty members and students as well.
It will be held at SSPB 4250 @ 3:30 PM. Please join us. You don't want to miss on this one too, do you?

Exciting News

I’m sorry I haven’t been posting daily as I promised. The undergrad research symposium was last Saturday and, although, it is a great opportunity, it is also time consuming. I’ll make up for it. There are plenty of exciting events coming up.
This Thursday is the Honors Award ceremony for the anthropology department. It is the department’s way to recognize fellow classmates for their outstanding work. Professors also joint this occasion and they make it all the more exciting
Please joint and get to meet more future social scientists like you.

Reception time and date:
Thursday, May 18 20063:30 p.m.SSPB 1208 (Initially was going to be held in SSPB4250 but it was moved because of the large RSVP turn out. That’s good news). For more information, please contact Norma Miranda: nmiranda@uci.edu

In other news, the Anthropology Club is planning a nice presentation fornext Thursday, May 25th. Please keep checking this Blog for more updates.

In terms of Anthropology facts, this makes me really happy. The actor who plays Dr. House in the TV show of the same name,Hugh Laurie, graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Anthropology. If you haven’t seen the show, you owe it to yourself. It is intelligently written and very funny too.

And so we kick off!!

All things anthropology?

Well, not really. This blog is designed to be a little more informal than that. So, rants about professors, homework, politics and Shetland ponies are acceptable.
You can also post comments to blogs. You don’t need to signup; comments can be anonymous.
I’ll be posting new blogs everyday (starting today) now that all the links are up. We may never run out of interesting things to say. So, check frequently, won’t you?

If you have any questions or suggestions you can leave them here or email me at camorale@uci.edu
